Jim Clancy

Founder and Director
Jim brings over forty years of financial experience in regulated utilities, independent power producers, gas midstream and international power sectors. Jim has focused on corporate financial planning, mergers and acquisitions, investment analysis and asset management. Jim has primarily worked on development of gas generation, hydroelectric power and wind generation projects. He holds BS and MBA degrees from the University of Arizona.
Jim was the Vice President and Treasurer of Century Power Corporation, a domestic independent power generator in Arizona and New Mexico, before transitioning to international power plant development and operation primarily in South America, England as well as other countries. Jim was a remotely-based financial manager with Liberty Power Corporation in New York and Independent Power Corporation in the United Kingdom. Jim also served as a Vice President of Corporate Planning for Optigas, Inc. which was a gas midstream company with operations in Wyoming, north Louisiana and east Texas.
Helen El Mallakh

Founder and Director
Helen is an established professional with thirty years of experience in energy, sustainability and clean tech, economic development, and political risk management. She has worked in the external affairs groups of major energy companies including ConocoPhillips, Shell, and Aramco. Helen currently is the Managing Director of the International Research Center for Energy and Economic Development and Managing Editor of the Journal of Energy and Development. She has an M.B.A. in finance from Rice University, an M.A. from Harvard University in Regional Studies, and a B.A. in economics and international affairs from UCLA.
Marvin R. Leeth

Founder and Director
Marvin holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in marketing from the University of Central Oklahoma.
During his long career in HVAC, Marvin has had ownership and management positions in several facets of the industry, including contracting, wholesale distribution, and as a manufacturer’s representative of commercial and industrial products. In 2000, Marvin founded Air Products Supply, Inc. and developed that company into an industry leading wholesale distribution and manufacturer’s representative firm for ClimateMaster, becoming one of the nation's most successful specialists in earth-coupled geothermal heating and air conditioning. Marvin retired from APS in 2012.
As a life member of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers), Marvin remains active in the industry today.
Matt Matusek, J.D., LL.M

Founder, Director and General Counsel
Matt is a 5th generation Midland oil and gas legacy. With over 10 years of experience in the energy sector, he has advised on multiple acquisitions, strategic joint ventures, and project development initiatives for numerous energy companies.
Matt holds a Masters of Laws (LL.M.) degree from the University of Houston Law Center focused on Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources and practices in Houston, Texas. Matt obtained his J.D. degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law and his BA in Political Science – International Relations and Affairs from Southern Methodist University.
M. Sean Murphy

Founder and Director
Sean has 35+ years experience in international finance, diplomacy, and executive directorship roles. A former hedge fund manager with extensive experience in public and private equity investments, real estate, and energy, Sean now manages his US & UK based family office.
Sean is an Honorary Consul for The Republic of Malta, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, an alumnus of The University of Kansas, and a current M.A. candidate in International Affairs at King’s College London.
J.C. Whorton, Jr

Founder and Director
J.C. brings over forty-five years of extensive energy and finance leadership experience to the venture. His experience with six Fortune 500 companies provided him with the opportunity of working with many of the world’s leading energy, mining, utility and transportation companies at the executive and board level. J.C. has served as an officer and director of a number of public and private energy companies.
J.C. was a member of the National Energy Consulting Practices at Arthur Andersen, PA Consulting, PricewaterhouseCoopers and SunGard where he was recognized as an international Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Corporate Governance and Trading/Risk Management. As a consultant, J.C. has been involved in the due diligence of over 50 billion dollars of corporate transactions. Currently, J.C. serves as adjunct faculty with the J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities at the University of Colorado Denver Business School.
J.C. is an award winning author whose books include The Flyover Nation: Energy’s Role in a Troubled Heartland and Power Play – Who’s in Control of the Energy Revolution?. J.C. has also authored over 40 papers and articles addressing public policy issues influencing evolving energy markets.
